Once again that sinkhole in Turtle Bay is proving itself to be worth less than the paper it's chartered on.
Having convinced Israel to step down and withdraw from Lebanese territory, abandoning the gains it made in securing safety for its people, in exchange for a 30,000 strong force that would prevent further Hezbollah attacks on Israeli civilians, one by one the UN members with the stability and capability to enforce a peace are turning their backs on the deal, led, sadly, by the French.
The Lebanese army is honoring its commitment and quickly moving troops into the region on what may turn out to be a suicide mission. This army has been utterly powerless against Hezbollah terrorists for many years and absent from Southern Lebanon for four decades. Will they have the discipline, capability and will to control what is effectively an Iranian Shiite region and militia and secure peace in the area or will they just end up as an involuntary 15,000 strong sacrificial shield for Hezbollah's next assault on Israel?
